By using the story of her grandson, JT, the book delves into the emotional pain that young children feel when someone close to them dies. Thomson seeks to help children understand and accept their feelings in a non-judgemental way in order to bring the comfort they need.
Thomson takes a unique approach into the concept of how the brain works in relation to processing grief and how this can be used to better assist the grieving child. Moreover, she also writes about the stigma associated with death and how this can lead to feelings like shame and guilt.
With a particular focus on family roles in managing grief and death, Thomson takes the readers on a journey of self-reflection--allowing them to sort and handle their emotions for the better.
Kay E. Thomson committed her life to Christ at the age of twenty-one and since then, her life began a new chapter following what God had planned for her. She and her husband, Dale, had two beautiful daughters and six wonderful grandchildren. Through the twenty-five years of teaching in Sunday School, her vast experience with children and teenagers helped her gain a wide range of understanding their emotions.
