Regarding her educational background, Dr. Beltsos completed medical school at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in 1991. Shen then went on to do her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Loyola University Medical Center is 1995, followed by a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri in 1997.
A Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the doctor is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology & reproductive endocrinology and infertility by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women's health.
Reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI) is a surgical subspecialty of obstetrics and gynecology that trains physicians in reproductive medicine addressing hormonal functioning as it pertains to reproduction, as well as the issue of infertility. While most REI specialists primarily focus on the treatment of infertility, reproductive endocrinologists are trained to also evaluate and treat hormonal dysfunctions in females and males outside after the reproductive years.
