CESC 2026 Energy Storage Conference and Exhibition to Open in Nanjing on November 3

Oct 20, 2026

Nanjing, China, October 20, 2026 -- NANJING, China – Organisers have announced the forum programme, concurrent events and exhibitor lineup for CESC 2026, the fourth edition of the energy storage conference and exhibition. The event will take place from November 3 to 5, 2026, at the Nanjing International Expo Center under the theme “Technology Breakthrough · Ecosystem Collaboration”.

Jointly hosted by China Energy News, China Auto News, China City News and the Jiangsu Energy Storage Industry Association, CESC 2026 is supported by the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering, the China Automotive Journalists Association and State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Co., Ltd. BYD Energy Storage is the title sponsor. Bringing together exhibitions, industry forums and a technology competition, the event aims to connect innovation with commercial applications. Organisers say preparations are entering their final stages.

According to the organisers, the main forum is scheduled for November 4 in the China Hall of the Nanjing International Expo Conference Center. Discussions will cover the energy storage value chain, from policy and technology development to commercial deployment.

The morning session will feature keynote speeches by industry experts and business leaders. Technical presentations will address progress in solid-state battery research and commercial development, grid-forming energy storage solutions, and the role of interconnected renewable electricity supplies in developing a new power system.

Afternoon sessions will focus on industrialisation and commercialisation across technologies including sodium-ion batteries, all-solid-state batteries and advanced compressed-air energy storage. Other topics will include grid-forming solar-plus-storage systems, coordination between computing demand and electricity supply, intelligent management of energy storage assets, and the deployment of microgrids and distributed energy resources.

The closing roundtable will explore how different energy storage technologies and business models can support direct supplies of renewable electricity. Panellists will discuss how domestic capabilities can support international expansion, how the industry can sustain value amid price competition, and how regulation can encourage innovation. A gala dinner and an awards ceremony for the Advanced Energy Storage Technology and Application Challenge are scheduled for the evening.

Organisers also plan more than ten thematic sessions and business matchmaking events on November 3 and 4. Topics will include green finance, carbon asset management, international supply chains, smart grids, energy storage for AI computing infrastructure, standards for emerging energy storage technologies, and university alumni innovation and entrepreneurship.

Through seminars, buyer–supplier meetings and technology launches, the concurrent programme will connect companies, universities, research institutes, financial institutions and end users. It will offer opportunities for established businesses, small and medium-sized enterprises, and start-ups to find partners, explore financing and bring technologies to market.

According to the organisers, participating companies will include BYD Energy Storage, NARI Group, Sungrow, Envision Energy, Inovance Technology, Siyuan Qingneng Electric and Suqian Times Energy Storage. Testing and certification organisations, including the National High-end Energy Storage Product Quality Inspection and Testing Center (Jiangsu), are also expected to exhibit. Displays will cover battery cells, power conversion systems and system integration.

Collaboration between industry and academia will be another focus. Hohai University, Southeast University and China University of Petroleum are expected to present research developments, creating opportunities for technology transfer and recruitment.

The exhibition will cover a broad range of energy storage technologies, including lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries, flow batteries, solid-state batteries, compressed-air storage, flywheels and molten-salt thermal storage. Core equipment will include battery management systems (BMS), energy management systems (EMS), power conversion systems (PCS), thermal management, fire protection and online monitoring systems. System integration exhibits will range from distributed storage to large-scale power stations, microgrids, virtual power plants, and integrated solar, storage, charging and battery-swapping facilities. Applications will include zero-carbon industrial parks, power support for AI data centres, low-altitude aviation and new-energy vessels.

Organisers expect the event to attract more than 1,000 participating companies and over 100,000 professional visitors, providing opportunities for product demonstrations, technical exchange and business development.

The second Advanced Energy Storage Technology and Application Challenge will run alongside the event. According to the organisers, it will comprise nine competition tracks, with support from more than ten national-level testing organisations. The expert committee will be chaired by Pei Zheyi, former Deputy Chief Engineer of State Grid’s Dispatching and Control Center. Assessment will draw on testing under representative operating conditions and data-based evaluation, with input from power grid companies, universities, testing institutions and energy investors.

The organisers say the challenge will link technical assessment with testing and certification services, subject to the applicable assessment procedures. Selected projects are expected to be included in the Advanced Energy Storage Technologies and Application Guide (2026–2027), with a foreword by Academician Shu Yinbiao. Financing roadshows are also planned to connect project teams with investment institutions, including Jiangsu Hi-Tech Investment, China International Capital Corporation and Yida Capital.

International supporting bodies from Asia, Europe and Australia will contribute to the event’s international exchange programme. Overseas buyer delegations are expected to present project requirements and procurement needs on site.

A media programme involving national and industry outlets will provide coverage before, during and after the event, helping exhibitors reach industry audiences and prospective partners.

Preparations for exhibitor services, visitor registration and media coverage are continuing. The organising committee aims to create opportunities for the global energy storage community to exchange technical expertise, build partnerships and advance commercial projects.
