Born Deon Johnson in New Orleans, the heart of Louisiana on July 7th. This was the beginning of his journey. On August 23, 2005 Monroe and his family were relocated to Dallas Texas, due to hurricane Katrina. Being his mother’s only son he faced a lot of obstacles in the South Dallas neighborhood. During Monroe’s early teen years he quickly became a known name in the city for his street altercations. His mother feared that if he kept going down the path he was taking he would end up in jail or worse. At age 15 his mother came home with a recording mic and that is when he became Cobra Monroe. His first single, Swag it Out, featuring the hit South Dallas Swag dance got the attention of the city.

In 2017 Monroe released his second mixtape ISO and his fans quickly flocked to their proclaimed Prince of Rap. The leading song No No charted #93 on the itunes charts, and just like that he was back in the limelight. In 2018, he released his EP The Prince of Rap, and later welcomed his first child Messiah Johnson, with his long-time girlfriend.Due to his new found love of being a father he decided to step away from music to raise his son.
