Karam Restaurant & Bar Celebrates 1st Anniversary by Supporting Homeless Causes

Karam Restaurant and Bar is celebrating its first anniversary with a fundraiser dinner for Rose Haven, a local organization dedicated to easing the pain and suffering of those that are homeless.

Karam Restaurant and Bar (“Karam R&B”) is celebrating its first anniversary by supporting a well known local organization, Rose Haven, for its work to ease the pain and suffering of women and children that are homeless and helping these guests make the transition from homelessness to self sufficiency.
As an important part of the celebration of its first anniversary, Karam Restaurant and Bar will be hosting a special event fundraiser dinner for Rose Haven as part of its monthly commitment in 2020 and beyond to support select charitable organizations and kick off the celebration of its first anniversary by supporting its inaugural GiveBack campaign. The event will be held at the Karam Restaurant and Bar located at: 1111 SW Jefferson Street, Portland, Oregon 97205, on Thursday, December 19, 2019, from 6-9pm.
“We selected Rose Haven as our initial support recipient due to the fact that they address the needs of one of our most pressing issues we face as a society; homelessness. We see it around us every day, and rather than just talk about solutions, we decided to be a part of the solution by supporting Rose Haven and other great organizations like them that directly address and help with this big problem,” stated Tony Karam.
The Karam family supports non-profit organizations that help their fellow humans to better their lives by reducing homelessness and hunger, and supporting youth education and literacy.
The Karam family has been in the restaurant business in the Portland region for over 30 years and continues to please new and loyal diners with its authentic Lebanese, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean dishes, including their classics: Chicken and Lamb Shawarma, Chicken, Lamb and Kafta Kabob Skewers, Fresh Greek or Tabouleh salads, freshly baked Pita bread, Baba Ghanouj and three kinds of home-made Hummus, and fresh baked French-inspired pastries and desserts, as well as numerous gluten free and vegan choices.
When designing the new space for their guests, Antoine ‘Tony’ Karam describes their vision this way, “The vision my son Karam and I had with Karam R&B was to create an inviting, upscale experience, without the upscale price, for our dining guests so their friends and family can enjoy the lively Lebanese music playing and plentiful space to gather while they enjoy their meals, cocktails and each other’s company. We had a very limited budget to work with, but we’re happy with how everything turned out. Getting this restaurant designed properly was worth it because we see the satisfied smiles and nice comments we receive from our guests daily; this is our greatest reward.”
The Karam Family has had another established restaurant and deli in Beaverton, Oregon for nearly a decade now (Karam Lebanese Deli & Catering) where its large commercial kitchen prepares the daily dishes for both restaurant and catering orders (Karam’s Catering). Their Beaverton restaurant has satisfied its guests’ appetites for something more than just a typical burger or chicken sandwich. “What we provide for guests is a unique and authentic experience from our Lebanese culture of fine foods, drinks and French-inspired pastries,” stated Tony Karam.

Rose Haven is 501(c)(3) Non-profit organization whose mission is to serve the needs of homeless women and their children. It serves as a day shelter and community center for those experiencing the trauma of abuse, loss of home and other disruptive life challenges. Rose Haven breaks the cycle of homelessness by providing meals, clothing, first aid, mailing addresses, hygiene, restrooms, showers as well as educational programs and guidance through medical and social services. By meeting basic needs and building trust, Rose Haven empowers its guests to explore and embrace long-term change for the better. With the help of a handful of staff and 650 volunteers, Rose Haven served the needs of over 3,500 people in fiscal 2018 with a very limited budget, and demand for their services continues to grow.
