An accomplished and energetic Physician Executive with over 30 years of progressive healthcare and medical experience, Dr. Polk has been with DCHC since 2010.
He is responsible for the daily supervision of primary medical care services, as well as representing the clinical component in special programs and projects for the effective integration of patient services across all departments in clinical operations.
An expert in medical policy, pediatrics, medical informatics, and project management, Dr. Polk received his Doctor of Medicine from Meharry Medical College (Nashville, TN) and both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science from Jackson State University (Jackson, MS). He also received Health Information Technology (HIT) Certification in October 2016.
Polk has served in diverse sectors, public and private, of the healthcare and medical industry. Prior to his appointment at DCHC, Dr. Polk served as Director and Pediatrician for School-based Health Centers at the Henry Ford Medical Group, Medical Consultant in the Medical Policy Division for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, and as a staff physician in the Department of Pediatrics at St. John Riverview Hospital. In the public health arena, he has served as Medical Director of the Detroit Primary Care Network for the City of Detroit Department of Health. Dr. Polk has received an academic appointment at Wayne State University as an Assistant Professor and Clinical Educator in the Department of Pediatrics
Dr. Polk's compassion, passion, and commitment to youth is demonstrated not only in his delivery of medical care services to adolescents and youth, but in his private life as he serves as a father and mentor to many youth in the community.
Traveling to the Yucatan Peninsula and Greece is the doctor's vacation getaway, and spending quality time with his family and friends completes his life.
