Ombori is changing the face of retail and paving the way for independent retailers to offer ‘digital experiences’ in their stores through a line of futuristic, innovative products that blends social media and e-commerce with traditional in-store shopping.
Stockholm, Sweden - January 3, 2019 /MarketersMedia/ —
Over the last decade, the growth in technology has been rapid. With tech like virtual and augmented reality becoming more sophisticated every day, the line between the digital and physical space has become increasingly blurred.
This rapid innovation has driven huge changes in all sorts of sectors. In the retail space, we’re seeing products like Amazon Go being used to streamline the customer experience, eliminating the need for a checkout process entirely.
However, it’s not all good news for brick-and-mortar retailers. Living in an increasingly digital world has meant that growth in online shopping has soared, stealing business from brick-and-mortar stores. According to recent research from the British Retail Consortium, online sales of non-food products made up 24.1% of the market at the end of 2018, up from 11.6 percent in 2012.
Some experts are suggesting that in-store shopping is now more about the experience than it is convenience, and this is forcing brick-and-mortar stores to create more interactive experiences for their customers.
Tech company Ombori is leading this change. They’ve created a line of products which allow customers to have ‘digital experiences’ while shopping. Among these is “Ombori Inspiration”, a voice-assistant shop signage product that offers guidance and inspiration for shoppers, and “Ombori Window”, a motion-activated, digital window display that allows customers to literally ‘window shop’.
Just last month, Ombori also launched their selfie mirror in a fashion store in Dubai, which proved to be a huge hit. The mirror can take pictures of willing shoppers that they can then share with their friends, as well as connect to the store’s e-commerce platform so that shoppers can shop online while in-store. Other products have already been featured in big-name stores like H&M and Clas Ohlson.
In the future, Ombori plan to compete with tech-giant Amazon by releasing their own self-service shopping app similar to Amazon Go. The app, known as “Ombori Pay”, will allow customers to complete purchases and leave the store without having to go to the checkout.
