Specializing in women's health, Dr. Kwon is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology & female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women's health.
A Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG), she is a member of the American Urogynecologic Society, the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons, International Continence Society, and the International Urogynecological Association. In addition, she is affiliated with Lenox Hill Hospital.
Dr. Kwon's passion is also Global Health. She has traveled to many parts of Africa, South and Central America to perform female reconstructive surgeries and vaginal fistula repairs for over a decade. She was appointed as the Director for Ghana Fellowship Program by International Urogynecological Association. This is the only accredited fellowship in the field in Africa. Also, she led a large group of doctors and nurses to underdeveloped countries like the Democratic Republic of Congo for obstetric fistula repair surgery and to assist in building programs to help these women without resources. Her international work, including in the fistula repair arena was recognized by the International Urogynecological Association (largest society in the world for urogynecology/ Female Pelvic Surgery), she was selected to be the Vice-Chair of Foundation of International Urogynecological Association to develop programs to help women with pelvic floor disorders.
Her other philanthropic endeavors, Dr. Kwon is the Co-Founder of the Freed and Kwon Medical Humanitarian Fund, which has been created to provide surgical services, educate medical students and residents, and improve the general health of the communities it serves in developing countries of Latin America, Africa, and Asia.
