Winners and losers in Victoria's Youth Mental Health funding.

Dec 10, 2022

Melbourne, Victoria Dec 9, 2022 (Issuewire.com) - As Mental Health hubs across Victoria enjoy extended funding from the Andrews Government, others are not so lucky. In a move that shocked local residents, the Lilydale Youth Hub is set to be defunded.

Originally funded under a federal grant, the Hub's future hangs in the balance, as both funding and hope run out at the end of this year.

The Yarra Ranges Council, local residents, and other mental health bodies are calling for an urgent review and refund of this critical resource.

'This past year, the Hub has provided a critical point of community connection and delivered much-needed service capacity. They've held their doors open at a time when so many services were turning people away or putting them on extremely long waitlists,' said Mayor Jim Child.

A petition to save the hub has attracted almost 400 signatures, showing just vital this service is to local young people.
